When and How to use the Address Bar versus the Search Box.

This is a beginner's guide to using the web. Many new internet business owners may have little background in using the Internet. I remember how frustrating it was to get good results when the Internet first started in 1995. We've come a long way since then, but still there are a few tips that may help you when doing searches.

A new client was very frustrated when trying to find his website. It was a new design and each time I would tell him changes were complete, he would put in his website in the Search Box, and find no results. He was confused, when the link in the email would work, but the search didn't.

Another problem was directing him to his online email account. Again, the link in the email would work but he woud not get results when putting the link in the search box.

Excerpt:

A common mistake for many new internet surfers is to input a website address in a search box, or input keywords in the address bar. This is not wrong, but if the site is new, then you may get confused when you are returned with "no results".

When trying to "find" a product, service, or information, it is best to use the "search box". Let the Search Engine scan their database of millions of pages and provide you results.

To go to a site you know exists use the Address Bar. To do a keyword search enter a keyword or phrase in the Search Box areas.

A 12 page introductory guide to help you understand th very basics between Search and Address Bar use.
